Manager, Financial Projects


The Manager, Financial Projects will work with the Aurora Finance team and related stakeholders on transformational change projects to deliver best in class finance processes that are scalable with Aurora’s domestic and international growth plans.


In this fast-paced role, to be successful you must understand execution risk and how to mitigate it. You understand that effective change management is core to success this role, you will drive efforts with business teams to ensure planned benefits are delivered. You understand stakeholder management and effectively manage relationships across large and complex organizations and Professional Services partners. You will lead complex systems/process design, implementation and integration projects, leveraging your finance and technical expertise and challenge the status quo, striving for continuous improvement, operational excellence and a focus on designing for the future


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement key finance processes and frameworks that are scalable for a large, international company
  • Lead/assist in the identification, solutioning, and implementation of finance improvement opportunities
  • Perform analysis of financial data, complete process documentation and work instructions
  • Develop business requirements for technology solutions, support testing requirements and support training programs associated with technology change
  • Support project managers with the pipeline of identified opportunities, prioritization and focus areas, planning, building and managing project schedule/budgets, and reporting on project risks/issues and benefits realized to date
  • Oversee UAT where required
  • Liaise with key stakeholder groups across the company with respect to financial project initiatives
  • Exercise a continuous improvement mindset to support a world-class Finance organization
  • Assist in the development & maintenance of project charters, reports and other project management documents
  • Research and identify best practices relevant to finance
  • Special project as needed varying in length and complexity



  • CPA/MBA or Master’s Degree
  • PMP/PRINCE2 or other relevant project management qualification would be an asset
  • Exposure to strong, efficient Finance process cycles in a large, international company environment
  • Knowledge and experience with LEAN and Six Sigma is an asset
  • Experience of change management methodologies PROSCI would be an asset
  • Experience with ERP applications would be an asset.
  • Experience across tax, treasury, accounting, financial reporting and risk management
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading business process improvement projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Display team work & integrity
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment and comfortable in a dynamic environment without routine
  • Sound business acumen with demonstrated ability to manage interpersonal relationships across various levels of stakeholders
  • Availability to travel within and outside of Canada, on occasion
