The Manager, Internal Audit will be based in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, or Toronto, and will be responsible for the overall development and execution of the Company’s global internal audit strategy. He or she will contribute to the success of Aurora’s financial and operational objectives by identifying areas of improvement and providing sound advice to strengthen internal controls, processes and procedures.


The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the following:


Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform risk assessments at the enterprise and business unit level
  • Develop, implement, and conduct financial and operational audits
  • Review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company’s internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Ongoing monitoring of the Company’s compliance with local and foreign laws and regulations
  • Identify and evaluate control gaps and provide pragmatic recommendations for improvement
  • Prepare regular internal audit updates for senior management and audit committee
  • Perform follow-up reviews with management on the status of outstanding internal audit issues
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the cannabis industry, business changes and regulatory developments
  • Assist with special projects and investigations as requested by Risk Management



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • Internal Audit designation preferred (CIA)
  • Strong knowledge of COSO and COBIT frameworks
  • Experience with I.T. auditing considered an asset (CISA, CISSP)
  • Minimum 7 years external or internal audit experience, preferably in a SOX environment
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects concurrently
  • Self-motivated and exercises sound business acumen with a high level of autonomy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Availability to travel within and outside of Canada, on occasion
