Senior Manager, Canadian Tax

Reporting to the Senior Director of Tax and Treasury, the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax will be responsible to ensure the timely and accurate filing of all Canadian corporate tax reporting requirements as well as overseeing the preparation of the Canadian tax provision.   The successful candidate will be detail focused and have a strong understanding of Canadian tax law, regulations, as well as administrative tax policies.  The candidate will also participate in tax planning and structuring projects.  The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a very fast pace, high growth and innovative culture and is willing to supervise a team as well as participate in the delivery of high quality work.  The individual will be responsible to maintain the appropriate internal and external relationships and manage the cooperation with external tax authorities from both Federal and Provincial levels.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and documentation of the quarterly, annual standalone and consolidated tax provisions under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Responsible for ensuring that all accounting entries relevant to the tax provision are recorded accurately and in accordance with the applicable accounting standards
  • Supervise the corporate tax compliance process and review of tax returns and other corporate tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
  • Manage different stakeholders and internal and external resources to meet compliance and project due dates
  • Monitors compliance filings in foreign jurisdictions
  • Identify, recommend and implement standard operating procedures to centralize and support the efficient, timely and accurate preparation of all filings
  • Research and communicate tax developments and participate in developing strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation
  • Manage relationships with the Canadian tax authorities
  • Participate in special projects including tax planning and structuring



  • Completed undergraduate degree with excellent academic credentials
  • Completed master’s degree in tax or accounting designation (CPA, CA)
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience; of which at least 3 years includes experience preparing tax provisions and Canadian corporate tax compliance
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience of tax provisions and Canadian corporate tax compliance
  • Strong preference for industry experience
  • Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax program is an asset
  • Strong commitment to professional service excellence striving to exceed expectations

  • Strong time management and follow-up skills; highly organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects
  • Execute on complex tax engagements while identifying and mitigating tax risks
