Solution Architect

Aurora Cannabis is looking for a Solution Architect to join our Information Services (IS) team in the fast-paced cannabis industry. This role will lead solution design discussions with various stakeholders aligning to business requirements.
The Solution Architect must be able to gather requirements, create functional specifications, create functional and technical designs, identify areas in need of improvement. This role will work as a partner with a variety of business stakeholders, so collaboration, communication, and relationship building is key. 
The ideal candidate for this position has strong leadership skills and extensive technical experience designing enterprise level solutions, is highly innovative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment.


•    Utilize a variety of partners to assist with the design and architecture of complex business solutions
•    Participate in the creation of a technical roadmap that align to the organizational vision and objectives
•    Proactively identify areas of improvement and create a plan to remediate. 
•    Analyze existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization. They coordinate with all areas of the organization to see that the system is working as optimally as it should. They also analyze business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions. 
•    Based on their knowledge of IS and their analysis of the systems’ needs, recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals. These recommendations are presented clearly and understandably to senior management. 
•    Leads the design and review processes for new systems. They develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new software, working across the IS department. 
•    Create detailed integration plans for new systems. This includes logistical plans and providing technical direction and support for the Operational areas during the integration. 
•    Participates in evaluating the success of the project, identifying best practices and lessons learned. They provide feedback to leadership and incorporate this information into future plans. 
•    Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions. 
•    As required, assist with troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of technical related problems.    


•    Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders and vendors
•    Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues 
•    Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data and adhering to deadlines, priorities, and requirements
•    Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills with technical and non-technical audiences 
•    Strong design and documentation experience and proven ability to create technical roadmaps
•    Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects
•    Ability to work with limited supervision
•    Ability to work with business units and drive out requirements, and the technical solutions required to deliver business value   
•    Proven ability to leverage partnerships with external vendors 
•    Understanding of how budgets are defined and work in a large organization
•    Proven ability collaborate and influence decision making in large enterprise environments
•    Experience designing and deploying solution in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and AWS in large enterprises
•    Experience with D365 (CRM, Marketing, Customer Voice, Sales) and Power Platform 
•    Experience with Enterprise Service Bus technology such as Mulesoft or similar technology. 
•    Knowledge of client-server networking and database management 
•    Experience planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices 
•    Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies 
•    Proven ability to work across with diverse teams in multiple geographical locations 
•    Experience with large projects involving multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, innovation driven environment
•    Proven ability to provide a high-level of customer satisfaction


•    15+ years of experience in the IT industry 
•    10+ years in an Architecture role working on large enterprise solutions
•    Undergraduate degree or diploma in Computing Science or related field 
•    Knowledge of the cannabis industry would be considered an asset
•    Knowledge of SOX, GDPR, PCI-DSS, NIST, and PII 
•    Any one of the following Certifications is preferred 
•    TOGAF 
•    CISSP
•    Azure Solutions architect
•    AWS Practitioner
•    D365 + Power Platform Solution Architect
